5K

My first official race...
I wasn't really planning on running the 5k because I hate running outside. My two wonderful neighbors (in the picture) were running most mornings at 5:30am and were planning on running this race. I was tempted to run with them a few of those mornings, but if you know me well, I am not a morning person at all! At the last minute I decided to sign up anyway. It was a lot of fun! My time was 25 minutes 56 seconds and my goal was around 30-32 minutes. I didn't realize I pushed myself so hard until I got home and felt a little uneasy! It was well worth it though because I got a good work-out! Mike stayed home with the kids because they sleep in until 9:00am each morning. I'm number 247 in the picture above, my neighbors Jeff and Maria #12 and 13, and Rob, Dena, and son Skyler all ran the race. Everyone did really well!

Mike's B-day!

We celebrated Mike's birthday this year at Benihana. We LOVE the food, and we were glad that most of Mike's family was able to join us.

Mike's brother, Damon

Mike's mom, Kaye and sister Mindy
Sisters Natalie and Tierney

The server decided to put on a show for Mike. They put on a silly hat for him to wear, and they gave Brett some drums to play while we sang to him. (If you know Mike at all, he doesn't care to be the spotlight!). I thought it was pretty funny!

Brett and Allison are in this picture, and after this dinner she went into labor with her first baby. Baby Megan was born early the next morning! I guess baby Megan decided she didn't want to miss out on all the fun anymore!

Can you tell how much he is enjoying this?

Catch up!!

Sorry it has been so long since I posted! Work has kept me busy not to mention end of the year school things, and now sick kids. At least they are quiet today so I can post!

We took a quick trip to Mesquite in May, and we are attempting to teach our kids how to play tennis. This picture was taken at a tennis court in Mesquite. I'm sure we won't be doing this in July when we go again!
Does this remind you of a certain TV commercial? Marissa insisted on the safety gear. I was just happy with the life jacket!
The blow up lobster has treated us well, but I hate blowing it up!

This picture was taken in my backyard in May. The kids were DYING to get the banzai out this year. Too bad it's been so cold and rainy in June! At least we had a taste of summer for a little bit!

Marissa's birthday. I know I posted about this already, but my mom took several good pics too!

Go Carts and Wheelers!

The kids had a really fun day today! It started off with their cousin, Conner, getting baptized. Afterwards, all the cousins came to grandma's house to ride wheelers and drive the go cart. I'm so glad the weather was nice enough to do this! The kids had so much fun! To top the day off, I had the chance to go to dinner with one of my best friends, Hallie without kids! What a great day (except for the fact I lost my cell phone!).

Marissa Turns 4

Marissa turned 4 on April 13Th. I cannot believe how fast she is growing up! It is still strange to me that I don't have a baby anymore (but I am enjoying it too!). Marissa had such a good day! She invited lots of friends and cousins her age to one of her favorite places, Buildabear Workshop. I was surprised that she picked a Hello Kitty doll instead of the pink monkey (that most of the girls picked!) because she LOVES monkeys! She woke up that morning and came to my room to verify that it was her birthday! It was so cute! She is so happy to be 4!

Very Unexpected!

Mike and I were stressing over the upcoming pinewood derby for a month. Nothing was getting done! The car wasn't cut, paint wasn't bought and the derby was in two days. TWO DAYS!! The stress and tension was building up because we both know how much Jett loves the Scouts program. Jett also loves to paint, cut and glue things, so we knew we were slacking by putting this off for so long! I felt like a bad parent. Mike and I have NEVER done a car before, so not only did we put it off for so long, we also needed to figure out HOW to make one of these cars without embarrassing our boy too much! My main goal was cosmetic. I knew Mike would look into the technical part of things. I went to a craft store the day before the derby and bought a new kit (with a cut car since we don't own the right cutting tools) that had everything from the sand paper to the decals. We spent all evening on Monday trying to get this car looking good! Mike came home for a lunch break on Tuesday (the day of the race) to put the wheels on. I was just hoping Jett's car would make it down the track without falling apart. Jett ended up taking first place! Mike and I were both shocked! There were seventeen cars, and I was thinking there is no way he is going to place at all! It turns out we made a pretty fast car! Jett was so happy!

Dinosaurs!

The Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point is amazing! The boys had a great time! We took Conner and Britton with us, and Marissa went to a cousin's birthday party. The pictures that I took by dinosaurs turned out too dark, but here are some with the boys playing in a cave, building dams in the sand, and checking out a cool shark!
